Row after row of people and products.
Meat sticks were a hot item again this year. Clean, lean, high protein meat sticks and meat bars without the greasiness. We found everything from Cajun Beef, Cilantro Lime Pork, Salmon, Original Beef and Buffalo...(not your daddy's Slim Jims). We also found Salmon Bacon and Mushroom Jerky. Salmon Bacon - good, Mushroom Jerky - bad! Epic is a great brand that has a lot of different types of meat to try, if you're feeling adventurous and caveman-like.
There were a lot of healthy snacks filled with protein, super foods and clean ingredients but my favorite, by far, is the Siren Protein Bites!! Two sisters who decided to switch to a plant-based diet, created these delicious protein bites and they are amazing! I just placed my order.
One of the most exciting products (to me) was Pickle Juice! Yes, pickle juice. Their claim is that it is great for athletes and stops muscle cramps. I can't wait to share this with my running group and put it to the test.
Samples, samples, samples!!
The Annual Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco can be overwhelming and hard to describe the first time you experience it. Luckily, the 2017 show was the fourth time I've gone. First, I didn't eat nearly as much as I did the first couple of years nor did I take as many pictures. But, I DID bring home more samples then ever before (even toilet paper). Second, I stayed well hydrated as it involves a lot of walking and we seem to loose track of time. Third, I always try to seek out the new food trends for the coming year. (For my personal knowledge or to sometimes show off to my clients). I also think it's easier to describe and share with pictures...
